ABOUT ME
My name is Emma Nikov and I am a 17 year old living in New York City. From a young age, I have had a deep passion for art. I enjoy using a wide variety of mediums to create pieces that evoke emotion and make my audience smile. My favorite thing to paint is portraits because there are endless possibilities when it comes to human expression and emotion. By distorting and manipulating faces, I try to convey various aspects of the human condition.
I have worked as an apprentice to two professional artists; Jonathan Glynn and Peter Buchman. I have won a number of awards for my art that you can see in the awards page of my website. Ultimately, I try to use my art to inspire and help others. I started a campaign in March 2020 when the pandemic hit to raise awareness around teen suicide. I sold prints of my art to raise money for the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide. When the war broke out in Ukraine, I held an art show alongside a fellow artist to raise money and awareness for Ukrainian Refugees. Together, we raised over twenty thousand dollars and donated all of our proceeds to The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. To learn more, go to the philanthropy page on my website
